Scatterbrain!

Oof, my head. Yep, I am feeling a wee (LOT) bit hungover today. Still. At 7pm. Whoops! Last night Craig and I pulled off a pretty epic surprise for his dear girlfriend, and my dear friend Emilia's birthday. Both of her parents were there, who I love and was happy to catch up with, as well as our nearest and dearest. Amy even came up from NoHo and we had a sleepover! It was awesome. I definitely drank too much on an empty stomach and am very thankful for my husband for getting me home safe despite my insistence on wearing cowgirl boots on the ice (thanks again, babe). I think I have been taking my new motto "drinking for two" a little too serious, and I may need to start climbing up the slope to sobriety as the begin date for Operation Make Baby grows nearer. Maybe after this beer. Hey - you don't have to stop drinking for 9 months, so quit judging!

I find myself handling this new goal the same way I do most everything: lots of reading, researching and talking to my friends and family who have done it. So far, so good. I have been getting lots of advice and book recommendations and everyone has been so supportive and joining in on the excitement. This last part is really awesome, because its just the precursor to how awesome and supportive I know all my loved ones will be once there is something (and someone) to be excited about together. I say it everyday, but really, I have the best friends in the world.

Okay, enough baby blabber for now.
Despite my hangover I have been fairly productive. We made it to Mass this morning and I hung out a bit afterwards to chat with my fellow parishioners and didn't even throw up on anyone! Then I came home and took a nap to make sure I made it to my 3:00 yoga class. I made the poor decision to drink a Red Bull on my way to the gym, which resulted in a full-blown panic attack about 5 minutes before class started and me almost walking out of the gym with xanax in hand, but I decided to try and stick through it and I am so glad I did. It made me feel sooooo much better. My favorite teacher was leading, and she seemed to know exactly what I needed, lots of breathing and meditation and chest opening moves. Perfect. And I did something I have never done in my 10+ years of practice: my heels touched the ground in downward dog! Like, the whole time! I was so proud of myself that I even threw in a 30 minute cardio session. Woot woot!
Then, as if things couldn't get any better, I came home to a seriously romantic situation. Matty told me not to tell anyone, so I won't give details, but let's just say that I really do have the most amazing husband on the planet. He even paused the football game. No, really. He's seriously my favorite person.
So now I am sitting on the couch trying to not feel like death (still) and be a little productive, which isn't working so well, but at least I am blogging. That totally counts for something. Even though this may be the most random blog yet. It totally matches my scattered brain today.

Scattered thoughts:
The Golden Globes are on tonight! I am doing my annual volunteer project for MLK Day tomorrow and I get to have drinks with my HONO family tomorrow night! Next weekend is my day long training for Big Sister and my friend Hannah is going to teach me how to knit! I am leaving for Reno in a few weeks and get to see so many people that I love and we are even going to San Diego to visit my grandparents! Winter may suck, but things are all sunshine and rainbows for this lady! And check out that cat of mine; isn't he the cutest furball ever?

XoXo

A Day in the Life: Food Edition

If you haven't figured it out from this here blog, my life is pretty darn busy but I crave routine and do a pretty good job at sticking to a "regular" schedule, even if it does start at 5am and end sometime after 10pm. One of my most consistent things in life is definitely my eating. I love to eat, and love trying new foods and new restaurants but during the week I am the most boring person ever because I literally eat the same things at the same time every single day. At dinner, we get buck wild, but between 5 and 5, I am like a senior citizen. Here is a day in the life of what I am munching on: 5:00am (or whenever I stop hitting snooze) : one cup of coffee brewed at home with a hefty splash of half and half. I recently switched to the "light cream" store brand but that is as low on the fat as I will go - milk just does not do it for me like cream does. Post-run/workout (around 6:45) : second cup of coffee with cream Commute breakfast (between 7:1

Monday night and half a bottle of riesling.

You may be asking yourself now, "why the hell does Stef need a blog, she spends too much damn time on myspace/facebook/perezhilton as it is". Well, I have one because I need one. I get writers cramp too bad to keep a journal, and I can drink and type with much more ease. But really, I think this will be a good way to organize my thoughts, and keep my scattered friends better posted on my life. When your closest friends span from Seattle to Spain, it can be hard to keep them up to the minute on the important things in life - like what I'm doing on any given Monday night. (The answer tonight is sitting on the couch watching the Red Sox, while Matty reads the Augusten Burroughs book I just finished, having just ate a super yummy "smothered pork chop" dish that said Matty made, and applying for jobs at the Crime and Justice Institute). I really just plan on rambling on about my life, and sharing things that I think you ought to know like if Matty and I went for a bi

Good-Bye Green Line

Tonight is officially my last night as an Allstonian. Or a Brightonian. I won't even live off the green line after I wake up tomorrow morning. No more 45 minute train rides that stop every block, no more "This train will run express to Packard's Corner". Tomorrow when I wake up I will pack the cat into his carrier, grab my purse and my husband will drive me and this baby in my belly to Dorchester, to our home, where we will have our first baby, our first wedding anniversary, where we will be "mom and dad" for the first time instead of just "husband and wife" or "Stef and Matty". I will use the vacuum cleaner Matty bought last night, the first new vacuum cleaner I have ever owned in my twenty nine years, and I will hang up pictures from our wedding, our trips to other states and time zones, pictures of our friends and our families. And on Monday I will wake up and catch the Red Line into work. It won't take too long, despite being fart
