My Morning Routine

All of the feedback on my last post was so nice and super motivating to share some of the random things I do to find some balance with eating and working and running and mom'ing, so I thought I would share how I try and tackle the mornings. Running This is the cornerstone of my exercise routine and the only thing that I do in the mornings. I have tried to be one of those people that can get up and do yoga or strength training, but it just doesn't happen. As soon as I start moving the kids barge in, someone needs something from me, or the kids want to join and start rolling around on my foam roller like a drunken circus seal. Luckily, I have my lunch hour at the gym every day (more on that another day). I am also not an afternoon or evening runner - there is always so much to do in those hours after work and before bedtime and, really, I just love starting my day with a run to clear my head and feel accomplished before the rest of the world is awake. With morning running, I ...

46 Days to Hopkinton

Well, well, well here we are. 46 days. 7 Saturdays. 2 course dress rehearsals. Then it is GO TIME. Training is going great. Can I say that? It's my third marathon so I have something to compare to but this is like no other. This is Boston . I am running for charity and life is totally different then the first and second time I set out for 26.2 (because it always is, isn't it?). I have a baby who sleeps in my bed and wakes up a lot to nurse or cuddle or play pat-a-cake on my forehead at 2am. I put in a lot of time in the office and at night after the girls are asleep building my career. I have fundraisers to attend, beers to drink, friends to enjoy, a husband to cherish. I am tired. I am sore. I have thirteen other things I should be doing right now. But here I am and I am doing it and putting, ahem, my best foot forward. BUT I really truly trust in my training. I get out there and get the miles under my feet every Saturday. I make it to the Pilates class by run club host...

Happy Friday!

I am so excited that it is Friday, especially considering I spent much of yesterday mistakenly thinking that it was in fact already here. After a night out for a work event Wednesday, family dinner Thursday, two mornings running at 5:15 with my Back on My Feet team and endless hours stressing about the new house, I am MORE than ready for this weekend. Tonight we are meeting up with our HONO family for a much needed dinner. I cannot wait to catch up with everyone and see what kid of amazing things we have all been up to. This is such a dynamic group of people who are constantly doing amazing things with their lives; every time I get to see them I feel so energized and inspired...and full. We know how to eat good food, and tonight we are trying somewhere Matty and I haven't been. Tomorrow I am going to get myself up early to run with the Dorchester Running Club and then take Maddie to her gymnastics class before meeting a friend and her husband for brunch. They are thinking ab...

Why Dorchester?

Don't pop the bubbly just yet, but the O'Sheas are this close to owning the condo that we have our heart set on, and although the road to home ownership is less yellow brick and more Lombard Street, we may be closing in just six weeks (!!!). We are stressed, exhausted, nervous, excited and anxious as hell, but if it all goes well and we make this house our home it will be ALL worth it.  Aside from the house itself, I am really excited for the neighborhood, which is known as Pope's Hill in Dorchester . The Dot and I have had some trials and tribulations over the last six months or so, but I am glad that we have decided to stay and have the opportunity to move into an area that is just nic er enough to make the bad feelings I had go away, but still connected. I am still fully committed to making all of Dorchester as awesome as it deserves to be, but I no longer feel like I am martyring myself or my family by living in the thick of a lot of the not-s...

The Awesome List

Make way for Bruins....er ducklings! Things that are awesome in my life right now (not necessarily in order of their awesomeness): My Mommy is on a plane on her way to Boston! Right now! And she will be here for a week. She hasn't seen me since I have been pregnant, so it's super exciting that she will be here to rub my belly and eat ice cream with me. We aren't homeless! Not only did we find a place to live but it has so many great things: it's a 3 bedroom, which means a spare bedroom for family and friends to have extended visits (especially after the baby comes and I will need them more than ever), it has porches and a yard, it is deleaded, it is gorgeous and freshly painted/stained/cleaned and it is not in Allston!! It is all the way in Dorchester where there are no college kids and there is actual diversity and there are real Bostonians. Yay! Today marks the official start of Pride Week in Boston and my co-workers and I went to watch the flag raising and show our s...
